BREAKING NEWS: River Island is set to launch their highly anticipated Design Forum collaboration with young designer, Katie Eary on the 14th February 2014 at London Fashion Week. Launching via a short fashion film at the quarterly Fash/on Film event in association with The British Fashion Council, it will be the high-street giant’s 7th Design Forum/Film collaboration since the launch of Fash/on Film in Feburary 2012.
The 18 piece collection (starting from £15) showcases BOLD vivacious prints, FIERCE cuts, HOT swimwear and a whole lot of lust-worthy accessories and statement jewellery pieces. With a seriously luxe leopard print theme running throughout the line, it’s definitely going to be a difficult line to ignore, wardrobe-wise this Spring/Summer’14 – in fact, every piece (or whatever piece you opt for) will become that go-to for any occasion. I ADORE the cool thigh-high splits (very this season), as well as the cool bleached denim shorts and energetic colourways – it’s the perfect collection to start building your SS14 wardrobe with.
British designer Katie, started her fashion career after graduating in 2008 from The Royal College of Art. Now a ‘one to watch’ on the London Fashion scene, the designer has also worked closely with Kanye West on the development of his fashion label. It’s definitely time, therefore, to get ahead of the game with Eary’s debut onto the high street and pick up the pieces you love NOW.
On the collection, Katie says, ‘my starting point was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Except in my story it wasn’t Johnny Depp, it was my muse (the strong woman) on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert. I then went on to design looks for her while she was on this journey. It all became very 'Tribal Dipped in Gold.’
‘River Island connects to the cool type of women which suits my project. All those independent, sexy, powerful women who frequent River Island, so naturally I thought we were a perfect match.’
