As you may have realised reading The Fashion Ache, I’m a complete sucker when it comes to collaborations – especially when it involves the French designer Isabel Marant. Known for her signature chic, bohemian aesthetic, Marant’s collections are coveted unlike any other. The label’s just got this cool, totally relaxed and luxury vibe about it – and every one, whatever the season, drives the FROW to total distraction and instant lust. And, when it comes to matching Marant with Oliver Peoples – the Californian cool, eyewear brand for glasses and sunglasses - well, what can I say? It’s pure style GENIUS.
Isabel worked with Larry Leight (one half of the duo - alongside Ken Schwartz - who established the brand Oliver Peoples) with precision and attention to detail to create easy-to-wear sunglasses that convey the ‘Isabel Marant and Oliver Peoples’ effortlessly chic approach to style and design.’ Together the duo came up with Matt – an iconic teardrop pilot - and Daria, an oversized, feminine frame, each handcrafted from fine metal. Their light-weight, classic designs are beautifully flattering and their shapes suit most face-shapes. It’s all about a laid-back, carefree look – and these will surely lend it to any ensemble you throw on.
Both styles work a modern take on the 70s – a key inspirational element in Isabel Marant’s collections and style…
‘I wanted timeless sunglasses that you can wear every day, even when it rains. To me accessories make your look. I designed these glasses like my accessories, a colour per season. I chose a shape that is chic with a vintage feel at the same time. This is what Oliver peoples is so well known for and why I appreciate the brand so much.’
