BETHAN JULIFF – the next in KNITWEAR

She’s been labelled a ‘knitwear star’ by VOGUE and has already generated excitement amongst buyers and the industry media…and I know I certainly can’t wait to see what’s next for knitwear designer, Bethan Juliff. Her latest collection, In all disorder, a secret order for AW14 (available in September 2014) has sparked a buzz about structured yet shapely knitwear that we haven’t seen about for a while, and that VOGUE has described as ‘far from the oversized, slouchy knitwear currently dominating the high street, Juliff’s designs are structured and feminine.’

Inspired by the sculpted aesthetic of Juliff’s designer heroes (Alexander McQueen and Azzedine Alaïa) the designer’s latest line blends opposing ideas: contemporary structures with the use of beautifully, classic knitwear – very feminine in their silhouettes. Challenging and dispelling some conventional design myths, the designer works together aztec prints with retro neons against a palette of brown and contrasting black and white. Not only this - but her use of surprisingly structural details compliment this clash of ideas and unconventional shades. In a nutshell? Bethan Juliff has found individuality in knitwear and fought back against design myths with both fists…
