The latest hair collection from hairdresser Genevieve Collerton, Mixed Emotions, arrived in my inbox at work recently and really struck a cord with it's cool styling by stylist Mel McQueen. Working floral prints, stand-out print mashes (including bold stripes and playful photographic scenes) and delicate lace patterns, McQueen clearly knew what would work perfectly for the collection's seamless black and white, film-style, photographic execution. Take away some high-voltage inspiration from the looks and redefine your AW13 wardrobe monochrome look for the new season - stand-out style is what we're after.
NEXT, to put it bluntly, has NAILED the trends for Autumn/Winter'13. With everything from luxe monochrome accessories, ridiculously cosy plaid sweaters and a whole lot of metallic, zebra print and hounds-tooth - their latest collection is going to be pretty difficult to pass up. Their array of point-a-licious court shoes, envelope and box clutches and tartan staples are all perfect to bag to update your wardrobe for the new season - and all at a smidgeon of those designer prices. What's not to love?

a reputation for pioneering style and beautiful individuality, this is a milliner

like me, you’re on a bit of a budget at the moment – but want an affordable,
easy way to update your wardrobe for the new season, it’s all about the accessories. STATEMENT accessories. In
the current climate, it’s all about being penny savvy when it comes to fashion,
and thankfully the high street and websites like Adorn by Boutique, provide us
with the what’s HOT for now at a considerably lower price. Update your current
work look with an edgy statement necklace, or reinvent a simple vest with some
SERIOUS off-the-cuff cuffs. I’m currently very smitten with the brand’s ‘LOVE’
bangle and studded bracelet – and at under £20, these aren’t going to break the
bank or mean you have to invent some kind of weird fictional story in which a
honey badger kept you captive unless you bought said item for the boyfriend…
I've got a problem. Melis Yildiz's AW13 collection landed in my inbox today...and I don't know how to avoid purchasing them. Seriously. And, it's not just the shoes - the luxury label's bags have got me all in a tizzy too - did you see the colour-popping, boxy mini totes? *Sigh* Oh, it's definitely lust, maybe even love at first sight. Especially when it comes to her SS14 collection (which believe me, will be hitting this spot asap - I think you may have already recognised my rather unhealthy obsession with two-strap sandals, no?). Founded in 2012 by Melis Paciotti, the label brings together luxury
femininity and pure and utter elegance – not to mention a fabulously bold colour
palette with decadent metallic detailing...oh dear: *runs off to check bank balance*.
The November 2013 issue of ASOS Magazine features the stylish, True Grit star, Hailee Steinfeld. Not only has the 16 year old already got an Oscar nomination and Miu Miu campaign under her belt, but she’s causing one hell of a stir on the style scene as well. Check out the actresses cool styling skills, a few snippets of ASOS’s interview with the star and the behind-the-scenes video...
On getting into acting:
“It just became this thing where I said ‘I want to do that’ just as the week before I’d say ‘I want to play basketball’...I went to classes for a year and loved it and got an agent. Before I started acting, I could never find anything I was satisfied with, but I think with acting, the fact that I’m constantly doing something different...every bit is so exciting.”
On people’s belief in her:
“It’s the most flattering thing because people have only seen me in one film. I remember getting the calls for Romeo & Juliet and Ender’s Game, and you always wonder what makes people think of you for those roles...I have moments where I’m like, ‘Why me?’ This is unreal!’”
On Romeo & Juliet co-star Douglas Booth:
“He is so, so great...I can’t think about him without laughing. I love him so much – he’s so funny...I couldn’t have asked for a better person to experience this with.”
“Fashion is something I’ve always been interested in...I used to watch the Oscars but paid no attention to the awards...It wasn’t until I started attending red carpet events and was flown out to Paris for my first show, and saw how much is put into it all, that I had this new appreciation for everything. Now it’s become a huge part of my life.”
