Stumbling upon the label SUPERFINE last week meant it turned out to be a pretty darn good day. I can’t describe that feeling of fashion-lust towards a brand when you find it and feel like it fits you, your personality and your STYLE. In fashion, there’s nothing quite like that feeling. And, SUPERFINE certainly does it for me.
Established in 2003 by Lucy Pinter and Flora Evans, this is a cool, edgy brand that’s recognised as an innovative style leader – making aesthetically cool jeans with a real London attitude. As one of the first pioneers of the skinny jeans silhouette, SUPERFINE has quickly gathered a dedicated following around the world and is (and one can completely understand why) a point of reference for many of today’s most influential style icons including the likes of Kate Moss, Michelle Williams and many, many more…
This season it was all about channelling rock icon, Patti Smith. As a long-time fan of the musician, artist and poet, Lucy was keen to dedicate an entire collection to the icon. Patti Smith famously used to soothe herself taking pictures – some of her most notable polaroids were taken on the streets of the beautiful city, Paris and the surrounding areas - and, in an effort to walk in her shoes, the designer spent days doing exactly the same thing to inspire the collection.
Effortlessly cool, the SS14 line from the label stands true to the poetic theme and to the designers’ personal taste. Neutral colours work alongside rock ‘n’ roll black and edgy grey, while fresh white makes that nod to summer. Dip-dyed jeans sit alongside cool printed bombers and Cara Delevingne-style blazers – just calling to be worn without anything underneath and a whole stack of layered pendants. There’s one thing you just know about SUPERFINE - you’re never going to fall out of love with it.
